    Photographing Your Trophy Fish

    Sunday, August 31st, 2008

When it comes to catch and release lakes, it is important for you to be ready to catch your fish, take a prize-winning shot and release your giant back into the water for others to enjoy. Before setting out on your trophy trout fishing trip with your fishing partner or guide, keep these few photo tips in mind.

Bring along a good, reliable camera. It doesn’t matter if it is digital or 35 mm, but make sure it has an automatic focus feature. Most casual photographers don’t need the pressure of adjusting settings, so an automatic camera is a good choice. In addition, for the sake of safety, it doesn’t hurt if your camera is waterproof!

Great Fishing Close to Home and No Skunks!

    Friday, August 29th, 2008

Some of the greatest fishing in the world, is available within a mile or two away any where in the US! Many anglers miss out because their gear is too big and not sensitive enough to show them bites. Fish feed in a delicate fashion 90% of the time. In order to catch them, you need to change your ways. If you do, you can be rewarded with 500 fish in 4 hours- my record is 512.

The Flying Fish of Rainie Falls.

    Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

It is early fall here in Southern Oregon.

The trees are full of color, and so are the rivers and streams.

If you have ever wanted to witness firsthand the majesty, power and persistence of Salmon and Steelhead, then you owe it to yourself to jump in your car, hop the next train or bus, or take to the air on the the next plane to Medford Oregon. And don’t forget your hiking boots.

    My Fishing Partner

    Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Fly fishing here in Alberta, Canada is about as good now as it was when my father first took me as a young boy, 35 years ago. My dad was my fishing partner for all of my life, but sadly he got very sick and that was the end of his fishing days. Fishing was never the same after that, as for 2 years I walked the backwoods and cut lines alone, and I caught my share of trout, but something was missing. I finally decided that I would have to find someone to share this experience with me, someone who would enjoy this as much as I did.

Successful Fishing: The Mysterious "e" Factor…..

    Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Successful Fishing: The mysterious “e” Factor.

There has always been a strange, and to this day, unsolved mysterious theory in the fishing world.

My wife knows of this theory and she thinks I am crazy, paranoid, and maybe even a little hard up.

The theory is based on secrets that have been held by a small but priveleged group of men, who have sworn secrecy and taken blood oaths, in order to keep the modern societies from crumbling.

I reveal this secret at great peril and with no apparent regard to the ramifications that may take place, out of an act of final frustration.

Fishing Fall Bass - Early Fall Fishing for Bass in the Northwest as the Seasons Change

    Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

You have just rolled out of bed, poured you coffee and there it is. You knew it
was coming, but it is real, it is here. What am I talking about? It’s not taxes,
the Grim Reaper or even your in-laws coming for an extended stay. It is the first
foggy Fall morning. If you have spent any time in the Northwest you know what
that means. From here on out the weather will never get quite as hot as it did
all summer, and the nights will be cooler. Sure, we may get an Indian Summer and
some nice days, but the fact is, things are cooling off. Now it is time to start
thinking about what that means for our Bass fishing.

    Fishing Topwater in Lily Pads

    Monday, August 18th, 2008

In 2004, I fished more lily pads than ever before? Why? Well, because I caught fish in them. I probably caught over 100 fish in the lily pads this year alone. Two were over 5 pounds and one over 6 pounds. So what did I do different this year?

I’m glad you asked……I used a lure called the scum frog, green and white, not only that but I fished it different than ever before. You see, I used to go slow, I mean real slow, my way of thinking was that even though the bass is a fast swimmer, he would have a hard time catching up with the lure through the pads, if I retrieved it fast. Not only that, but, I wanted to put it in his face a lot longer by going slow on my retrieve.

Halibut fishing is the most popular sporting activity in Alaska. If you have plans of going on a halibut chase, you need to have an experienced angler by your side. That is mainly because Alaska halibut fishing can be an exasperating activity for the novice. If you haven’t tried it before, you should know that halibuts are extremely cunning creatures. To drag them onboard, you must have several things in mind.
