Thursday, July 31st, 2008Trout come in a variety which include, brown, rainbow, brook, steelhead and cutthroat. They mainly live in North America, Asia and Europe, but they have been taken into other parts of the world because fishermen love trout for their size, colour and for the great sport of catching them.
Mainly you will find trout in cooler rivers and lakes. If you see fast flowing water turns to a slower pace or where deeper water turns to shallow, this is a good place to start looking. Trout fishing can be fun and sometimes these fish can try your patience because of their moody temperament.
The Best And Most Efficient Way To Carry Worms While River Fishing
Thursday, July 31st, 2008One of the biggest problems that we as river and stream fishermen face is how to efficiently carry a container of worms with us on our next fishing trip. If you are anything like me a river fishing trip can cover a couple of miles of river and involve crossing said river three to ten times. I carry my spinners, spoons, split-shot, pliers, and hooks in my fishing vest. So all of my fishing equipment is easily accessible, and ready to go. I used to have a problem with where to carry a couple of containers of worms. I would just put them in my vest and go from there. But then I ran into the problem of them getting hot and dieing, and not to mention the fact that it was a complete pain in the rear-end to access them. It just wasn’t efficient at all. It got to the point that I wouldn’t even use worms because it was such a fiasco to take them with me and use them.
Find and Catch Those Pesky Fish with a Garmin 240 Fish Finder
Monday, July 28th, 2008Garmin 240 Fish Finder Depthfinder with Transducer - a review
The lakes that I normally fish are deep and quite rocky, and I have been delighted with the performance of the Garmin 240 Fish Finder, which gives a clear picture of what lies below. The image of the bottom shows great detail, and if it is showing fish presence then you can guarantee they will be there. It does a good job of indicating non-fishlines as well. It is at its best when performing in deep water, but perhaps isn’t as impressive in shallow water.
GPS Technology and Fishing
Friday, July 25th, 2008What type of fisherman are you? Are you satisfied go out and drop your fishing line and be totally unconcerned about if you catch anything or not? Is the time that you spend with your family, friends or even by your self enjoying nature what your trip is really all about? If you don’t caught anything that’s fine-you can always stop at the fish shop on the way home, but it would be nice if you caught something. Or do you feel like your trip’s been ruined because you didn’t caught anything, and go home frustrated. Or is fishing how you make your living, either by catching fish or taking customers out to fish? If you take a customer out to do some deep sea fishing, it would be much better to bring home a happy customer with his catch, who could be possibly a repeat customer or tells his friends about how great his trip was bringing you additional work. A frustrated customer will think twice about using your services again and when planning his next trip, might go elsewhere and may be steering other potential customers away from you. What if there was a way to make sure you go where the fish are? What if there was a way to guarantee that you would catch your limit, to be able to ensure that your customers will go home happy and raving about your great service.
"The Squeeze Cast" Small Stream Fly Fishing
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008When heading out for an evenings go at a local small water Trout stream, you might consider the following tips.
I suggest you use a Double Taper fly line versus a Weight Forward line. This fills up the spool a little quicker with less weight and is better suited for the many Roll Casts an evenings fly fishing on small streams usually requires. Also, use either an 8# or 12# backing line if you can find it. Not a real big deal but keeping the weight down on small stream outfits is useful.
