    Fishing Bait For Kingfish

    Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Kingfish is a beautiful fish and on the list of many fishermen as their favorite. Kingfish are also known as whiting or sea mullet. These are fish that swim in surf making fishing a totally extraordinary experience. They live and move in schools of thousands and of course if you caught one, then you are in the middle of it.

Kingfish are small fish with even smaller mouths. They love clams, worms and crabs - mostly things that are found on shores. The angler can use any of these things as baits, but should always keep in mind that it should not be lowered too much so that other fish or crab steal the bait. Spinner hooks work very well for catching these fish. So are Styrofoam floats adapted on rigs with shank hooks, or Sea Striker gold hooks.

Effortless Walleye Jigging Method Scores Nets Full of Fish

    Sunday, May 11th, 2008

When you’re jigging for walleyes, how big of a role does psychology play? More than a lot of people think at first glance.

A large part of walleye fishing success is being in tune with both your mindset and the mindset of the walleye. You see, it isn’t enough to have a well thought out plan of action without taking into consideration the psychology of the walleye itself.

When you’re versatile and have the ability to change your approach, you can have the most success in walleye fishing. The walleye species is nomadic. It moves around a lot. To be able to catch the most walleye, it is necessary to understand why the walleye is behaving in the way it is.

    Deep Sea Fishing

    Friday, May 9th, 2008

Deep-sea fishing is fishing that involves trolling deep waters with large fishing tackle. Compared to other types of fishing, deep-sea fishing requires more fishing equipment including more line, rods and lures. Rods, reels, bait and tackles are the fishing equipment generally required for deep-sea fishing, and specialized fishing boats are needed for angling.

Basically, there are two types of deep sea fishing techniques - trolling and bottom fishing. The fishing technique is chosen, based on the location of the fish. Trolling techniques require keeping the fishing boat at a constant speed of six knots. The bait used is usually a fishing lure that is drawn on a line through the water slightly below the surface of the water. In bottom fishing, the boat anchors in deep water and hooks charged with lures are dropped to the bottom of the sea.

Fly Fishing: Going Against the Grain

    Friday, May 9th, 2008

“The water is high; must be generating at the dam.” These words might be the bane of a long anticipated fishing trip. But it doesn’t have to go that way. As they say in the sea, “you can’t change the direction of the wind, but you can change the direction of your sail”. Time to go against the grain.

You would think it is true that trout face upstream. However, what is really true is that they almost always face into the current. Sometimes the current goes backwards. So when the water goes against the grain, so must your presentation.

Fishing Tackle - You Get This Wrong And It’s All Over

    Monday, May 5th, 2008

When talking about fishing tackle, you should have a good heart to heart with the fish you’re looking to reel in. Ask them about their lifestyle, where they’re from, what kind of diet they’re into, and other aspects of their daily life. Of course, we aren’t talking literally about having this conversation! You can find out about all of this crucial information without even phoning a fish.

Why Water Skiing and Fishing Don’t Mix

    Friday, May 2nd, 2008

With the fourth of July weekend freshly behind us, I am reminded of one of the darker moments in a long and illustrious series of dark fishing moments….

Once upon a time, there was this young energetic outdoors type fella, who burned the recreational envelope to the bitter end. It was not uncommon for this naive- yet spunky- young man to participate in multiple outdoor activities on any given day.

Fishing in the morning would yield itself to mountain biking, or hiking, or berry picking and then followed by the evening fishing du jour. A little grub, a little quenching of the thirst, perhaps a spirited game of cribbage, a short nap and soon it was time again to repeat the previous days repetoire.
